Hi guys and girls...I'm looking for a good source for 1/4" connector bolts to use with my neck inserts. I found them at Rockler but the s/h for an 8 pack is more than 3 times the cost of the product...I don't need a bunch of them and on my next build I'd like to try 2" long ones and not countersink them. All I can find locally is 1 5/8". Thanks!

When Woodworker's Warehouse still existed, they had a bag of like 100 bolts and barrels for around $20 or so. I'm kickin' myself for not getting more than one bag. I had the opportunity to buy a bag during the going out of business sale, but passed. Rats.

Try this place. I did a search for kd connectors and barrel bolts etc, and while most places all linked to Rockler, there was this place where you can buy in bulk.

Got a Lowes in your area? That's where I buy mine. Cross dowels and threaded inserts, too.

Best,

Michael

All the ones I found had off centered drilled holes in the barrels. Is that what you guys all use? Just "stagger" them?

I think DEW & I discussed this @ ASIA...Terry Stowell38623.995625

Try this source, from Cumpiano's website.
it lists the place I get mine from, it's the best deal out there.

I get mine here in San Diego at a place called Marshalls hardware. They are
awesome. They have the cross dowels with the threaded hole in the center
as opposed to Rockler where they are off set.
Also, the have the 1/4 bolts with the nice finish in multiple lengths. I like
them shorter than 2inches.
If necessary I could get them for you and send them to you

Andy

Yes Terry, that's correct, although there are barrels out there with the hole in the center instead of offset. No big deal. You can choose to offset them or not, I don't think it really matters.

Mark, have you checked that link lately? I used to be the place that Don W. is talking about. Now the link goes to Rockler at something like $7 for 5 bolts. YUCK!!!

Paul, yep! I'd already been to Rockler, and then to RocklerPro (my acct from furniture days is still open)...I save a few cents on Pro, but the s/h is killer...I also used CSH for bulk, but I really don't need 1400 of these things...especially at 2" length! (Group buy? ). My thought is to not have to countersink the bolt head...just go straight thru the block and use a bellville washer to lock it down...so maybe 2" will be my attack from here on, who knows?

The one here only has 'em in 1 5/8"...I bought a couple packs, but want to try the 2" ones without countersinking the heads into the block....

Larry, I just went to the Lee Valley website and if you want 10 (50 mm is 2 inches) of the large head ones then that is $1.20, if you want 100, well that'll cost ya $11.00. I didn't check the shipping but you can do that and you could also see if there is a store near you. Also, someone who lives near a store could maybe pick them up for you and then you could just pay the real shipping. I have some of these and they are good. Hex key heads and all!
